Sports Briefs: 2013 World Series Media Day

(The Gab Four didn't attend Media Day at the 2013 World Series, mainly because there was no Media Day. But had there been, here is what they would have asked members of the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals, sponsored by 3 Spoons Yogurt)

Joe: I would like to ask Big Papi what it means to be in the Series again?

Chris: I would like to ask Clay Buchholz, Mike Carp, Ryan Dempster, Johnny Gomes, John Lackey, Mike Napoli, David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, David Ross, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Shane Victorino and Brandon Workman three questions: 1) If they have ever been confused for one of the members of the Robertson family, 2) If they have been approached by the Robertsons about joining “Duck Dynasty” and 3) If their beards itch.

Brad: I would like to ask Red Sox Shane Victorino if he is still floating from the win his grand slam gave the Sox.

Ralphie: I would like to ask Shane Victorino how it felt to hit that grand slam.

Joe: I would like to ask Jake Peavy what it is like to pitch for all those years with the Padres and White Sox and get traded to a World Series team?

Chris: I would like to ask Daniel Nava if he is old enough to shave.

Brad: I would like to ask Red Sox coaches if they are nervous at all to face the Cardinals for the fourth time in the World Series.

Ralphie: I would like to ask Matt Carpenter how he feels about retiring after the World Series.

Joe: I would like to ask David Ross about going from the Braves to the Red Sox and making the World Series?

Chris: I would like to ask Michael Wacha how he feels about Fozzie Bear saying his name every time he makes a joke.

Brad: I would like to ask the Cardinals’ Michael Wacha how he feels being basically a rookie and being able to play in the Series this year?

Ralphie: I would like to ask Mike Matheny how he feels about making his first appearance as a manager in the World Series.

Joe: I would like to ask the Cardinals manager how significant the All-Star Game loss is to the NL.

Chris: I would like to ask the Cardinals marketing department if they have considered taunting the Red Sox by hiring someone to dress as a large blade, run onto the field when the Cardinals are doing good and be known as the Rally Razor.

Brad: I would like to ask John Farrell what made him decide to keep all the players in the dugout this year and has it improved their playing.

Ralphie: I would like to ask the Cardinals how many home runs they think they'll hit in the World Series.

Joe: I would like to ask the managers what making the World Series means to them?

Chris: I would like to ask the Red Sox marketing department if they have considered taunting the Cardinals by finding an actual cardinal and feeding it to Wally the Green Monster.

Brad: I would like to ask the Red Sox’ David Ortiz if he will dominate at first base, or will he sit while Mike Napoli starts.

Ralphie: I would like to as David Ortiz if he thinks he will hit a grand slam.

Joe: I would like to ask Fredbird if thinks he can take Wally?

Chris: I would like to ask Matt Holliday if he’s considered requesting Madonna’s “Holiday” be played for his walk-up song and using Irving Berlin’s “Happy Holiday” if he gets a hit.

Brad: I would like to ask the Cardinals if they feel they have to win because they have won in the past.

Ralphie: I would like to ask the players who have sons what their sons think of their dads playing in the World Series.

Joe: I would like to ask the Cardinals left fielder if he has ever played the Green Monster?

Chris: I would like to ask Jacob Ellsbury if the reason he is able to hit .400 in the postseason (as opposed to .298 in the regular season) is that postseason pitching is not as good.

Brad: I would like to ask the Cardinals' Allen Craig if he feels his foot is healed enough to play at his best.

Ralphie: I would like to ask the players if they have any regrets from this season.

Joe: I would like to ask the Red Sox owner how much money this means to the Red Sox organization?

Chris: I would like to ask Carlos Beltran if the reason he is only hitting .256 in the postseason (as opposed to .296 in the regular season) is that he is not able to properly motivate himself for the playoffs.

Brad: I would like to ask the Cardinals’ Shelby Miller if he thinks he will see any field time and how he stays ready at a moment’s notice to jump in the game.

Ralphie: I would like to ask the players on both teams if being in the Major Leagues and making it to the World Series makes them feel like they're living their dreams.

Joe: I would like to ask the Cardinals manager if they had been tied by the Braves, and had to start with the Dodgers, would they still have made it to the World Series.

Chris: I would like to ask Mike Matheny if he ever has aspirations of having his own video game called “Mike Matheny’s Ultimate Baseball.”

Brad: I would like to ask Cardinals manager Mike Matheny how he feels his strong lineup compares to the Red Sox’ solid team spirit.

Ralphie: I would like to ask all of the players if they ever hum while they are playing.

Joe: I would like to ask the fans which stadium has the best concession stand food?

Chris: I would like to ask the Red Sox players if John Farrell has ever been thrown out of a game, only to return wearing glasses and a fake mustache.

Brad: I would like to ask Red Sox players as a whole, what would it mean to win the Series after the marathon tragedy this year.

Ralphie: I would like to ask the players if they ever get bored during a game.
