Sports Briefs: Trick or Treating with the Sleepy Hollow Horsemen

(Sponsored by 3 Spoons Yogurt)

Chris: I cannot attest to how difficult it is for a person whose head has been severed to be able to both ride and navigate a horse, but I would imagine that it either gets easier over time or that the rider has supernatural powers. By this logic it would mean that the person dressed as the Sleepy Hollow High School mascot is more impressive than the actual Headless Horseman himself. Having no known powers, the mascot rides and navigates a horse and leads the football team onto the field while wearing a costume over their head. Considering that about half of my junior high football team stumbled and fell each time we ran onto the field before a game, the SHHS mascot probably deserves a handsome salary.

Brad: The Sleepy Hollow Horsemen football team is an appropriate team for a Halloween column because everyone looses their heads having a ghoulish time in all the spooky excitement!

Joe: The Sleepy Hollow Horseman is an appropriate team selection for a Halloween feature team because it symbolizes a creepy headless horseman that is visiting us from the ghostly past.

Ralphie: The Sleepy Hollow Horsemen are the best team for a Halloween column because the headless horseman is one of the coolest and creepiest characters ever!

Chris: Considering how Ichabod Crane expired, I would imagine that the Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., town curfew would be when the sun goes down or possibly when school lets out. Do the Van Tassels still hold a party? I heard they give out good treats, but it’s dangerous coming back from their house when it’s dark.

Joe: I went trick or treating at a local tavern and got a beer without a head on it.

Chris: I went trick or treating at the Headless Horseman’s house and got a handful of Sour Patch Kids with missing heads.

Brad: I went trick or treating at Sleepy Hollow High's grounds keeper's house and got manure.

Ralphie: I went trick or treating at the band director's house and got a "tube-a" M&M's.

Joe: I went trick or treating at the house on the lake and got a crane-shaped cookie named Ichabod.

Chris: I went trick or treating at the high school principal’s house and got a report card dropped into my Monster High pail from McDonald’s.

Brad: I went trick or treating at Sleepy Hollow High's principal's house and got detention.

Ralphie: I went trick or treating at the principal's house and got Nerds.

Joe: I went trick or treating at the high school head football coach's house and got packages of Goldfish with no heads.

Chris: I went trick or treating at the band director’s house and got a Hershey’s Symphony bar.

Brad: I went trick or treating at Sleepy Hollow High's cafeteria lady's house and got a hair net.

Ralphie: I went trick or treating at the 12th grade English teacher's house and got pencils.

Joe: I went trick or treating at a widow's house down the street and got a nothing. She said after her husband died she has no income since there is no head of the house.

Chris: I went trick or treating at the 10th grade math teacher’s house and got a Nestle 100 Grand Bar that had a fraction taken out.

Brad: I went trick or treating at Sleepy Hollow High's Home Ec teacher's house and got horseshoes.

Ralphie: I went trick or treating at the football coach's house and got little chocolate footballs.

Joe: I went trick or treating at the local witch’s house, and she gave me an empty box. I asked her why, and she said there were pumpkins in each box but they had lost their heads.

Chris: I went trick or treating at a couple of the wide receivers' houses and got fun-size Butterfingers.

Brad: I went trick or treating at Sleepy Hollow High's towel boy's house and got napkins.

Ralphie: I went trick or treating at the head cheerleader's house and got Airheads.
